Everything You Need to Know About Delta 10

Have you seen Delta 10 THC for sale? One great thing about the United States decreasing prohibition of cannabis is the ability to freely conduct scientific research, and develop new products based on findings. It seems like every day new studies are establishing links between health benefits and different parts of cannabis, as well as hemp plants. In this same vein, a new cannabinoid is rising in popularity. Not to be confused with the widespread Delta-9 or the also emerging 8, this article covers everything you need to know about Delta 10.

The Many Types of Delta THC

Both Delta 10 and Delta-8 are cannabinoids found in trace amounts in the cannabis plant and are less potent than Delta-9. Further similarities between Delta 10 and Delta-8 include their origin from hemp-derived CBD. Per the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp and hemp-derived products are legal across the United States, although some states have chosen to outlaw Delta 10 and Delta-8. Before use, check current rulings in your state, as status often changes without much media coverage, if any. As of late August 2021, neither Delta 10 or Delta-8 are allowed in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Rhode Island, and Utah.

Despite often being lumped together, where Delta 10 and Delta-8 truly differ are in the finishing process. After the CBD oil is extracted from legally grown hemp, the resulting oil is processed into either 8 or 10. The varying products are created through the use of different chemicals which cause reactions. Currently, manufacturing  is not easy, as it must be extensively refined. This makes availability more of a rarity. Per Roger Brown, president and CEO of ACS Laboratory, a lab that tests hemp-derived products from 48 states, “If you see a product out there that says 99% Delta 10, I don’t believe it,” said Brown. Due to production difficulty, typically products making this claim are combinations of Delta 10 and Delta-8. Combining these two cannabinoids is best only when lab-tested at an accredited lab due to the chemicals used during creation. Understanding Delta 10 THC for Sale

Another difference between the two are the effects most commonly experienced by users. “To put it in perspective,” said Brown, “Delta-8 is more like an Indica and Delta 10 is more like a Sativa. They have two very different vibes to them. People who want to use a sleep aid, as an example, have used Delta-8, [whereas] Delta 10 gives you more creativity or perspective.” It’s important to note these purported effects are not based on the extensive scientific study as further research is needed on these compounds. Also, every person has unique body chemistry that contrarily determines effects. Further, Delta 10, as well as -8 and -9, will show up on a drug test as these tests are only able to test for the presence of THC, not whether the specific type of THC is derived from a federally legal source.

Here are some scientific aspects of Delta 10:

  • It is an isomer. Isomers are compounds that share an identical chemical formula but are arranged differently. With new structuring usually comes new pharmacological properties and user experiences.
  • Delta 10 was accidentally discovered while a California company worked to extract THC distillate from a batch of cannabis contaminated with fire retardant after a brush with wildfire. It formed these mysterious crystals which were eventually identified as Delta 10.
  • Delta 10 typically has a weaker affinity for CB1 receptor binding, resulting in milder effects.
  • For now, Delta 10 is a synthetically made cannabinoid, as it does not seem to be a naturally occurring cannabinoid in the hemp plant in the plant’s raw and unadulterated form. Therefore, it can only be created when the plant is exposed to specific conditions which amend the structure of its compounds.
