Cooking With CBD Oil

Election season is finally over but now the holidays are fast approaching, which bring their own level of stress. Enter cooking with CBD oil. This is the exact level of chill you’ve been looking to add to your gatherings. Let’s dive into tips for cooking recipes with CBD oil so you can get tasty cookies and more! A few things to keep in mind:

Start small and know the dosage

Even though cannabinoids (CBD) do not get you ‘high’, until you know how CBD will affect you, consider cooking in small batches and starting with a low dose, especially if you’re a first time user.

Keep in mind that a teaspoon of high-strength oil will be very different than a teaspoon of those with a lower concentration.

Watch out for heat

Cannabinoids are light and heat sensitive so it is recommended to keep cooking temperatures under 365 degrees Fahrenheit. High heat may cause the CBD compound to break down and lose its effectiveness. High heat will also change the taste, making it strong and bitter.

Try adding it to dishes after they’re prepared and removed from direct heat. A way to do this would be, mixing the CBD oil into butter and then using that butter in your mashed potatoes or adding it to a cake frosting.

Incorporate Fats

CBD is fat-soluble, which means your body absorbs it better, making it more effective when paired with fats. Try adding CBD to your favorite salad dressing, adding it to guacamole or infusing your olive oil with it for maximum benefit.

Use High-Quality CBD

Keep in mind that all CBD is not the same, finding oil from a reputable source is essential. Look for one that is free from extra additives and brands that provide third-party lab testing to ensure that they are providing a high-quality product. A broad-spectrum or full-spectrum will work best. Try the Full Spectrum Oil CR ); organic MCT oil, full-spectrum hemp extract and natural terpenes are the only ingredients.

If you’re looking for a product with a bit more potency, try Delta-8-THC oils. Delta-9-THC is the most common drug in cannabis plants that gets you high, it’s what most people refer to when they say THC. Delta-8-THC is very similar but it’s psychoactive effects are much lower. Delta-8-THC, unlike Delta-9-THC, is legal in states that do not have a recreational market.

Experimenting with CBD infused foods can be easy and fun. Both food and CBD offer therapeutic benefits, what could be better this holiday season? Now that we have covered the basics, it’s time to start cooking!

Savory Holiday CBD Recipes

Whole Kitchen Sink has an awesome recipe for cooking with CBD oil for Roasted Herb Mustard Potatoes, a versatile side to compliment any main dish. With a total cook time of 30 minutes, these super quick potatoes can easily be transformed into a CBD infused dish. We recommend leaving the salt and pepper out of the original recipe, once the potatoes are done roasting, drizzle with CBD infused olive oil and sprinkle with coarse sea salt and fresh ground black pepper.

Nothing says it’s the holidays quite like a roasted artichoke. Give Me Some Oven provides a tried and true method for roasting those bad boys up. We suggest making their Lemony Melted Butter Sauce for dipping. Simple yet delicious; just 1 part melted butter, 1 part fresh squeezed lemon juice, 1 part water and salt and pepper to taste. This is where we would add CBD. For a bit more fun, allow your guests to add their preferred amount of CBD oil to individual servings of dipping sauce. This would be a good time to pull out the Delta-8-THC for those seeking an extra kick.

If a turkey is your go-to main dish, we suggest stirring some CBD oil into your favorite gravy just before serving. For all of our vegan friends, we LOVE this Tasty recipe for mushroom wellington. We would also use CBD infused vegan gravy to finish off this dish.

Dessert Recipes for Cooking with CBD Oil

A holiday feast isn’t complete until dessert! You can use sweets as an opportunity to get creative and make something more original than the standard pie. Cupcakes can be an interesting way to spice things up. Adding CBD while whipping up the frosting is barely even an extra step. Keep with the holiday theme and try these Apple Cider Cupcakes from Wishes and Dishes or Life Love and Sugar’s Eggnog Cupcakes.

CBD Cookies

Or if keeping with tradition is more your speed, try these holiday sugar CBD cookies from Sugar Spun Run. We would add CBD to the frosting here too. Two Peas and Their Pod have a recipe for traditional no bakes. To infuse these ooey-gooey cookies with CBD, it would take only one extra step: stir in your CBD oil right before stirring in the oats.

Whether you’re an old pro or just starting to dabble with CBD, incorporating it into cooking is a practical way to experiment and receive its many benefits while also enjoying great food like CBD cookies. While Cannabinoids do affect everyone differently, almost everyone associates CBD with calmness and stress relief. In our opinion, that makes it the perfect additive to holiday festivities.
